A SPECIAL tribute award was presented to actor Rosaleen Linehan for her contribution to Irish theatre at the 11th annual Irish Times Theatre Awards last night.

New National Theatre at George’s Dock, Dublin

The Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Séamus Brennan, has announced the 13 member jury that will decide the International Design Competition for the new National Theatre at George's Dock in the Dublin Docklands. This follows on from the announcement in September 2006 that the design competition would take place. It is intended that the public will be given the opportunity to make their views known when the shortlisted designs are put on display and that the competition will be completed by the middle of 2008.The jury in full is:

Best Actor Owen Roe for his performances in 'The Taming of the Shrew', 'Catastrophe' and 'Festen'.
Best Actress Jane Brennan for her performance as Alice in the 'Alice Trilogy'.
Best Supporting Actor Declan Conlon Actor for his performance in 'A Month in the Country'
Best Supporting Actress Mary Murray award for her performance in the 'Alice Trilogy'.
Best New Play Tom Murphy for his 'Alice Trilogy'.
Best Opera Production Wexford Festival Opera for 'Transformations'.
Best Set Designer Sabine Dargent for her work on 'Hysteria' and 'The Walworth Farce'.
The Best Designer: Costume Monica Frawley for her work on 'The Taming of the Shrew'
Best Designer: Lighting Rupert Murray was posthumously awarded the award for his work on 'Catastrophe', 'Play' and 'The Taming of the Shrew'.
Judges' Special Award went to Fishamble Theatre Company for 'Whereabouts' and its use of Temple Bar for theatre productions.
A special tribute award was presented to Ingrid Craigie for her contribution to Irish theatre
